SHIP STRIKES ROCK.

One man was ilrmrned and another •lied from a heart attack when the collier Minnii (145.) tons) struck the rocks off Cape Banks at the entrance to Botany Hay late last night while propinjr ;1 way through thick fog and heavy sea. Sixteen of the crew were pot safelv ashore by a lifeline hurled to the ship by garrison gunners after many attempts. A fireman named Hurnside was drowned when lie lost his prip on the line. The cook, named Botiltun, died soon after the vessel struck the rocks. His body is still on the ship. After 1<» of the crew had been rescued 1 the collier, with seven still al-.ard. ] broke in the middle, but early thiiiumiin«! another line was fired to thI vessel and four men weie rescued. The j three remaining members of the crew I were brought a>hore at 4 a.m. bv a j "bos'ii's chair."'
An hour later the Minmi. broken badly, was tilting alarmingly.
