EQUAL PAY.

WOMEN WORKERS' RIGHTS.

LEAGUE OF NATIONS' ATTITUDE

Less spectacular than keeping nations from flying at each other's throats, but no less important, ie the work done by the International Labour Office of the League of Nations. Mr. W. R. Crocker, who arrived in New Zealand by the Mariposa this morning, is an official of this department of the League's activities, and had entertaining things to say as regards women and the League.

"At the present time," Mr. Crocker said, "there is a general study being made of the rights and protection of women with regard to wages. Women who work for the League receive the «-ame salaries for their work as men do, but this ie not the rule the world over, as we all know. It is d&sirable that the rights of women should be recognised, and with this aim in view the League is investigating conditions throughout the world."

Woman working side by side with man in business, Mr. Crocker said, was going to have more effect on the world than people realised. In America perhaps more than anywhere little difference was made between men and women. America had sent two women ambassadors, one to Denmark and one to Norwav. The Secretary of Labour was a woman. In Scandinavian countries important positions were often held by women.

"I see very little difference in the minds of intelligent men and women," Mr. Crocker said. "The idea that women are mentally inferior is dying out as women come more and more into the limelight. In men's jobs they are just as successful as men."
