PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE.
NORTHCOTE CORONATION MEETING. Two verses of the Xational Antli"m were suns; at the opening of the Xorthcote Women's Progressive League yesterday afternoon, the piano accompaniment being played by Mrs. T. .Toll. The chorus of •"Land of Hope and Glory" w;i< also sung by tlie gntherincr, the solo beinji rendered by Mi-s Winifred .lolinson. A message of congratulation was conveyed to Miss Kmily M. Xutsey on the honour of M.li.K. conferred by the Kinjr. A donation of one guinea was voted to the Kin™ George V. Memorial Fund. A letter of thanks, from the Returned Soldiers' Association was received for the" I'oppv Day collection of £-»."> 17/.">. being £4 H/2 more than last year. Mesdanies 11. I*. O'l.eary and P. J. Ryan and Miss V.. Gillihrand were thanked for voluntary transport.
It was reported that Mr. W. J. Lyon. M.l'., had conferred with representatives of the league regarding the complaint about zoning of local milk rounds, and he was thanked for his attention to the matter, further particulars, beinjr awaited.
Regarding the complaint of intoxicate! ' passengers on the ferry steamers, tlie , league expressed the view that some . supervision was required on board the ferries to prevent nuisance to the passengers, and the opinion was. expressed that the employment of women police ! would be in the interests of women and pirls in such a case as this. The imitation was accepted to the reception at Auckland on Monday to' Dr. Gi-orgillrt Sweet. 0.8.K.. n.Sc. of I Melbourne, on her way to the I'anI'ltcilic Conference at Vancouver. ] The speaker for the afternoon was] Mrs. P. Minns, who ga\e a most interest- i ing account of the administration in wliieh her son. Mr. P. C.
