WAIKATO TROTS.

AUTUMN MEETING. Ironside Wins Cup—Musketeer The Tamahere. Favoured with fine weather the autumn meeting of the Waikato Trotting Club, which o]>ened at Claudelands to-day, attracted a good attendance, but as the result of recent rain the going was holding. Tangaroa, who filled third place in the Introductory Handicap, with which the programme opened, had only £1 10/ on him for a win and £2 10/ for a place, and lie paid nearly a century on the latter machine, the dividend being a record for a. place in a trotting race in the " Dominion. The favourite, Guide Peter, skipped a bit during the race and also met with interference, which (settled his prospects. The winner, Gloster, was always handily placed and stayed on solidly to score nicely. Bronze Queen, who filled second position, gave a promising display for a novice, while Tangaroa's effort from a back mark was a good one. Guide Peter led out, but skipped after going a furlong, and Scrap Iron took charge I from Worthy Song, Hori Bingen, Terra- ! plane, Kewpie's Bingen and Bronze Queen. Going along the back Scrap Iron and Worthy Song were on terms. two lengths clear of Eyre. Hori Bingen, Kewpie's Bingen. Terraplane. Bronze j Queen and Guide Peter, who met with | interference at this stage. The two I first-named led into the straight from , Gloster, Bronze Queen and Kewpie's | Bingen. with Tangaroa moving up. In the run home Scrap Iron tirrd and Glosj ter came through to win by a length from Bronze Queen, with Tangaroa three-quarters nf a length away. Hori Bingen. Kia Kaha, Kewpie's Bingen : Grattan Girl, Eyre and Guide Peter ; were next.

The winner paid over a score and Bronze Queen also returned double figures. More Good Place Dividends. Going to the front with a little over six -furlongs to go. Lady Bunker was ne\cr afterwards in danger of defeat in the Eureka Handicap. (Jrand Triumph was always well placed, and though he put in a couple of breaks he soon regained his ground and pot second to return double figures. Bronte, who trotted a fine race from the back, got third, to also pay double figures. Several of the hones failed to leave the mark, Sophy Bingen leading out early, but she broke going past the stands where Grand Triumph was just showing the way to Lady Bunker. Sophy Bingen. Bed Eagle. Go Nap, Native Princess. Qncrida and Bronte. Grand Triumph left his feet going out of the straight, and Lady Hunker went to the front, well clear of (irand Triumph. Bed Eagle and Sophv Bingen, with five lengths to (!o Nap, with a three lengths' break to Native Princess. Qnerida. who was breaking, and Bronte. Bunker was five lengths clear of Bed Eagle, (irand Triumph, Sophy Binpen and Bronte, who were together, with Native Princess just behind them. Lady Bunker stayed on to score by a lenqth and a half from Grand Triumph, with Bronte three-quarters of a length away thud. Then came Native Princess, Corona Bell, Querida and Bed Eagle. Star Pronto Causes Trouble. Ironside was always one of the leaders in the Coronation Cup, and he came home full of running, while Our McKinney put up a solid performance from the back, but the efforts of Kewpie's King and Kenworthy were ruined when Star Pronto broke at the entrance to the straight the last time, while Great Jewel was also interfered with. Ironside went to the front at the start from Glorietta and Kewpie'ei King, while Great Jewel lost a bit of

ground through breaking, and was soon in the rear. Passing the stands the leading trio were the same, with Winaway, Star Pronto (moving tip), Kenworthy and Our McKinney next. When they came round again Star Pronto was a length in front of Ironside, who was. followed by Kewpie's King, Glorietta, Winaway, Great Jewel, Kenworthy and Our McKinney, but there was not much between them. Star Pronto was still in command along the back from Ironaide, Glorietta, Great Jewel and Kewpie'« King together, Kenworthy, Our McKinney and Winaway. There was no alteration crossing the top, and Ironside led into the straight from Glorietta and Star Pronto, who broke at this, stage and brought down Kewpie's King, while Kenworthy went down on his knees and Great Jewel also suffered. Ironside was never afterwards troubled, and went on to win by a length and a half from Our McKinney. who beat Glorietta by two lengths. Winaway was twelve lengths further back, and "the others had pulled up to a walk. Results: — IXTRODrCTORT HANDICAP of £100. One mile and a quarter. Limit, 3.5.
