TURKS MUST SPEAK TURKISH.
ISTANBUL.
According to the "Haber," a largely - read Istanbul daily, the Brussa municipality has decided to prohibit the public use of any language but Turkish, and to inflict a fine on anybody who breaks the regulation. Travellers, however, are exempt.
The "Haber," which favourably comments on this decision, recalls that the same measure has already been applied by the Tekirdag municipality, and expresses the wish that such steps should also be taken at Istanbul.
