MOREWA FOR SUVA. MIL ERNEST DAVIS' CRUISE. PROPOSED WINTER VACATION. (By SPEEDWELL..) At the end of this month Mr. Ernest Davis will send his 80-ton yacht Morewa to Suva, where he will join her about the middle of June and will spend his leave of absence from the arduous Mayoral duties of the city in cruising in the Islands. Mr. Davis has decided on this way of spending his vacation instead of going to San Francisco by steamer. The yacht will be away about two months, the winter being the best time of the year for cruising at the Fiji group. The Morewa is a schooner-rigged auxiliary yacht of 80 tons register. She was built by Mr. C. Wild, of Stanley Bay, and launched in June, 1U33, and was reputed to have cost £ 8000. After a visit to Norfolk Island and our usual resorts, she went to Brisbane at Easter, 1934. In October, 1935. she was purchased by Mr. Davis and made a good passage of 13 days in charge of Captain M. Pierotti, the distance being 1440 miles. On her arrival rit «'dl^ iVen a con, P le te overhaul, a r>owsprlt adde». a new ana longer main mast stepped and new sails with over 2000 square feet of canvas fitted
