CORONATION DAY.
CLOTHING FACTORIES. POSSIBLE CONCESSION. Although it has been decided that clothing factories will not observe Coronation Day as a holiday, it is more than likely that there will be a cessation of work from 10.30 a.m. till 1 p.m. to enable employees to witness the military pageant and attend the service at the Town Hall. At a meeting of a group of manufacturers the question of whether Coronation Day should be observed in the clothing factories was discussed .at length, and the general opinion was that the factories should be open as usual and those employees who wished should be allowed to work. Those who preferred to. do so could take the day off as a holiday, but would not be paid for it.
Finally it was decided to recommend to the executive of the Manufacturers' Association that all factories be closed between 10.30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
