ORDERED TO REST.
POLICE SUPERINTENDENT. (Received 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. Superintendent Brophy, chief of the Criminal Investigation Branch of the Melbourne Police Force, after examination by the Government Medical Board, has been declared medically unfit to return to duty. Superintendent Brophy has been ill for many months and medical advice was that he was unlikely to recover unless he could rest.
The State Attorney-General, Mr. A. H. Boussau, recently entered a nolle prosequi in the case against Geoffrey Davies, whom Superintendent Brophy identified as the man who shot at and wounded him in Royal Park, with intent to murder, in May of last year.
