STORE SHEEP AT HASTINGS. FARMERS REDUCING STOCK. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.! HASTINGS, Wednesday. Stole sheep constituted the principal section at the Stortford Lodge sale to-day. Continued dry weather compelled many farmers to reduce stock, resulting in a big yarding of 24,000. Selling was slow, many lines being hard to quit, and values showed a general easing tendency, although extra good entries made close to last sale rates. Forward wethers made up to 26/: wethers, in fat condition, to 28/; ewes, in lamb, to 26/; well-grown shorn wether lambs, 18/; well-woolled. medium condition, to 17/6; good conditioned black-baced lambs, to 17/0. Most of the lambs offered were ! cany-over sorts. A decided improvement was shown in tile quality of the fat cattle offered. Prime heavy bullocks realised up to £14 1'; medium heavy. £12 7/6; best heifers, to £10 5/; prime heavy cows, to £9; lighter prime. £7 10/ to i'B. Values were definitely easier for stove cattle, vendors being obliged to meet the market j owing to shortage of feed. Some good quality pens were offered Steers, 30 monnths old, brought up to £8 5/; 18 months old. brought up to £8 5, ; 18 small, £4 5/.
