"GASSED" IN SHOP.
MAN'S NARROW ESCAPE.
Almost overcome by the. strong fumes Q C aijinioiiia f!s\s on a recent morning, Air. Joseph Hislop, of Sydenham, Christel'urch, staggered from the premises of a city fish " shop, and ira« taken to the Christchunch Hospital. He quickly recovered.
Later a fireman, gearing a gas mask, entered the premises in an endeavour to' locate a leak in the freezer, hut was unable to do so. He then turned on the electric fans, which gradually dispersed the £a<4. When the fireman left, the air in the shop was comparatively pure, due to the fact that the ammonia in the cylinder had run down.
The cause of the leakage was not discovered, and it was stated next .day that the freezer was working perfectly.'
