MR. NASH IN LONDON.

(Special.—By Air Mall.) LONDON, April 9. With th® approach of the Coronation and the Imperial Conference, the mem» bers of the New Zealand trade delegation are all working strenuously to complete certain investigations eo that they may devote their full time to other questions of importance as they arise next month. The Minister of Finance and Minister of Marketing, Hon. Walter Nash, has had a full appointment book again this week.

On Monday the Minister was interviewed by representatives of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, Limited, regarding the export of used motor care to New Zealand. The same day the Austrian Minister in London, Baron Franckenstein, called upon Mr. Nash with an invitation for him to visit Vienna when consideration was being given to the question of trade possibilities with the Continent. Fruit Marketing Interests. Mr. Nash and the High Commissioner, Mr. W. J. Jordan, attended on Monday a luncheon arranged by the London manager of the New Zealand Fruit Board, Mr. H. Turner, to enable the Minister and Mr. Jordan to meet those responsible for the handling of the Dominion's fruit in the United Kingdom. Speeches by several brokers, who praised the New Zealand fruit marketing methods and the quality, grading and packing of the Dominion's apples, were followed by an outline of the Government's policy by the Minister and High Commissioner.

Two hours were spent by Mr. Nash later in the afternoon with the Minister of Agriculture, Rt. Hon. W. S. Morrison, in a further discussion of possibilities in the expansion of trade between New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

The Minister's engagements for Tuesday included a meeting with Lord Trent and Mr. Seebohm Rowntree, who approached Mr. Nash to discuss the New Zealand's Government policy regarding pensions, hours of work and industrial conditions. In the evening, Mr. Nash and Mr. Jordan were present at the annua] dinner of the National Federation of Fruit and Potato Trades, which: was also attended by the British Minister of Agriculture. morning, the Minister and Mr. Jordan visited Smithfleld Market at the invitation of the London manager of the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board, Mr. R. IS. Forsyth, to inspect the exhib : ts in the South Island District Lamb competition. The Minister and High Commissioner had a long conversation with the judges, and were very gratified to learn that the show was probably as good as any that has ever been exhibited at Smithfield.

Mr. Nash and Mr. Jordan lunched with Mr. Bernard Shaw at his London home.

On Thursday, the Minister and the High Commissioner met representatives of Vacuum Products. Limited, to discuss the marketing of New Zealand dairy produce. In the afternoon Mr. Nash and Mr. Jordan discussed with representatives of Dalgety and Company, Limited, possibilities for extending trade between New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

The Russian Ambassador in London, M. Maisky, met Mr. Nash this afternoon to discuss the Minister's projected visit to the Continent.
