READY FOR FRAY.

KICK-OFF FOR SEASON. TO-MORROW'S PROGRAMME. The twenty-eighth season of the Auckland Rugby League will start at Carlaw Park to-morrow, when interest will centre on the early form and personnel of the eight senior teams in the opening series of fixtures. Two hefty and fast thirteens, Manukau, who carried off last year's .championship, and Richmond Rovers, winners of the champion of champions contest, will meet in the main I attraction, preceded at 1.30 p.m. by I*onsonby and Mount Albert, while on No. 2 area North Shore Albions will contend with Newton Rangers, followed by Marist Old Boys v. City Rovers at 3 p.m. 'Ihe draw certain!}' is alluring. Manukau, with a pack averaging over 14st per man, will include Logan, the Central Hawke's Bay representative liveeighths. Their challenge will be met confidently by Richmond, who recently teamed brilliantly in the trial at Morningside, where the new forwards, McLeod, the Taranaki representative, and Mitchell, of YVairarapa, were conspicuous. Ponsonby, now coached by R. Mclntyre. the ex-Ponsonby and Auckland representative, are in the best of trim for their battle with Mount Albert, and the teams may provide a surprise or two. Newton will miss E. T. Brimble. who is at present in hospital, but the back (livision will include their promising centre, Sissons, with Dempsey as custodian. The team is being coached by George Morman, who captained the Rangers when they won the championship in 1927. North Shore Albions is tile new name jof the Devonport L'nited Club. I Marists will present a powerful van- | guard against City. The Rovers will have the services of Moody, a big Bay of Plenty forward from Taneatua, and Potier. the South Auckland representative halfback, among several other alterations. Three Xavy players.
