The success of the recent visit of the Bishop of Tanganyika, the Rt. Rev. G. A. Chambers, in an apj>eal for his mission has been frequently referred to by members of the General Synod. Archdeacon Bullock. of Wairarapa. contended last evening that missionary societies were not eternal, and some of the organisations ought to go. There nuict be room for new missions. The Board of Missions must not continue a mere conservative policy, he said, and added: "That seems to be one of its greatest weaknesses. More support must I be given to the missions which are most j [alive, and missionary endeavour must| 'not be smothered." '
