THE MARCUS SHOW.
Aucklanders have been intrigued by the display of lavishness in the costuming of the Marcus Show, now at His Majesty's Theatre. Spectacular, picturesque and colourful to a degree not seen previously in the Dominion, the company has quickly established itself in local popularity. The costumes would, however, be of little effect if the staging of the scen&s in which they appear were not what it is. Mrs. Marcus and her fellow-managers have done marvels with the old familiar stage of His Majesty's. In one act they succeed in getting three distinct stages, using a drop-curtain of gauze and a trapeze ballet. There is less of the outright comedy and vocal work than is expected from past experiences, but what there is is good. Crooning is indulged in, not unexpectedly, by several male and female singers, and tap-dancing is also a prominent feature of the entertainment. But first and foremost, the Marcus Show consists of spectacular costuming and presentation of a talent-replete chorus and ballet.
