SPORT WITH TROUT.
15H-POUMDER LANDED.
• (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day.
Fishing at the Waitahanui outlet at Taupo on Thursday a Rotorua angler, Mr. T. K; Durie, landed a splendidly conditioned ISJIb trout. The fish was one of a bag of eight, averaging 71b. , Conditions at Taupo are reported to have improved considerably. Sir Harry Lauder is at present fishing there, and together with Mr. R. H. Nimmo, of Wellington, has taken 50 fish during a week's stay.
It is reported that an early run of fish is at present taking place in the Tongariro, and that anglers fishing in the river are enjoying fair sport. Northeasterly winds have made conditions difficult in the Rotorua area, and the majority of lake fishing grounds have not been fishable. One angler fishing at Lake Tarawera on Wednesday took six fish averaging OJlh, while three Rotorua rods took 27 fair conditioned fish on the Mourea Flats in two half days' fishing. These fish averaged 31b.
