SERIES OF CRIMES. BREAKING AND ENTERING. LABOURERS FOR SENTENCE. I . A series of charges of theft and of breaking and entering premises to commit theft were admitted by Leslie Snow, aged 24, and John Xoble Stephens, aged 20, when charged in the Police Court this morning before Messrs. K. Copeland and H. Guthrie, J.P.'s rsnow was represented by Mr. Hall Skelton and Stephens by Mr. W. Noble. The accused were jointlv charged on three counts of breaking 'and entering the premises of Dominion Motors, Ltd., J. Jones, Ltd., and Dominion Hosiery Mills, Ltd. They were also jointly charged on three counts of theft. Snow was separately charged on two counts of breaking and entering the premises of Cross and Jackson, Ltd., and Car Marts, Ltd., and Stephens with breaking and entering the premises of Cadman's, Ltd. Snow admitted three charges of theft of suit ease* and content*, and Stephens the theft of an overcoat and diamond ring. The value of the goods stolen was £42 18/, and the articles comprised cash, bridge coats, frocks, diamond ring, pistol, glovee, dressing gown, keys, and numerous oddments found in suit cases -which hed been taken from the places broken into, and in one instance from a motor car. The offences were committed during February and March. Several witnesses were called to depono that their premises had been unlawfully entered, and also to identify the goods produced in Court. Evidence was also given by Detectives (lillam, Wilson and Whitehead, and the two first-named produced several statements made and signed bv the accused in which they admitted, the offences. Many of the articles were found by the detectives in the room of the accused Snow at a houee in Vincent Street. The accused pleaded guilty to all charges and were committed to theSupreme Court for sentence. On a charge of the theft at Hamilton of a collection box, tlr<- property of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, both accused were remanded for a week.
