Although references to direct action were ruled out at the meeting of milk producers at East Tamaki last night, the resolution calling for a minimum of one shilling a gallon for winter milk, and the demand for the fixation of the price within three hours of the Milk Council's meeting, does not exclude this possibility. The producers feel that they have a very strong case for an immediate increase to a shilling, but indirectly the people of Auckland are their customers, and despite the fact that the Milk Council is an intermediary those customers are entitled to consideration.' There is provision for an appeal if the price' fixed is not regarded as fair, and before action which may affect the comfort and the health of the whole city is contemplated the legal channels should be fully used. The Act contains provision for expediting appeals by consent of the parties, and it should be possible to reach finality in this direction in the course of a few days.
