LEVY MONEY STOLEN.

POSTAL OFFICIAL'S LAPSE. SUM OF £100 INVOLVED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. For the theft of unemployment levy payments totalling £101, John O'Grady, an employee of the Post and Telegraph Department, was to-day admitted to probation for two years, on condition that restitution was made, within 14 days. The police said O'Grady had been employed by the Post Office for about 20 years. ■ Towards the end of January a large number of unemployment levies usually paid at the High Street office were not registered. It was found that O'Grady had issued receipte, and when interviewed he admitted embezzlement. The lapse' was brought about because he: guaranteed repayment of a loan of £40 for a friend.
