At the meeting of the Auckland Rugby League Control Board last evening, Sir. G. Grey Campbell presiding, it was decided to thank Mr. Roy O. PLAYING SUCCESS RECORDED

. There was an attendance of .250 mem- i bers and supporters at the annual meeting I of the Mariiikau Club, Mr. S. W. House I making complimentary reference to the success of tbe senior team last season and extending a welcome to new adherents. The adopted report, after lamenting the lpss of the senior organiser, Mr. Cowan, ! stated teams were fielded in both senior | divisions, the third grade and schoolboy competition. The seniors, consisting of a 'num-ber ©f new players in the game, created a,'-creditable record by winning the championship. Robpe Rooster, t lie Thistle Cup, and being runners-up in the Stormont Memorial champion of champions match. These achievements indicated the-calibre of the players, who upheld the good reputation of the club and district. Congratulations were extended to S.' Watene upon his appointment as captain of a New Zealand team arid T". Trevathari and F. Piekrang also won national s.election, A. G.ault being on the reserve. These players, together with L. Kawe and J. Rutherford, played for Auckland, Piekrang wore the North Tsland colours, and Hemi, Kawe. J. Whye, P. Mahina, J. Broughton. A. Murray, N. Mason, J. Proctor and S. Watene were members of the Tamaki (Auckland) Maori team. Individual honours were gained by Watene and Piekrang, the former receiving Mr. W. Cuthbcrt's trophy as the best Auckland match player against the Englishmen and Piekrang being awarded Mr. J. F. W. Dickson's medal as the most improved Auckland player. The team responded well to the intensive training methods adopted by the club. The reserve grade team did well in the charge of Mr. A. G. Bates, the third grade side, coached by Mr. J. O'Connor, performed well and was runner-up in the knock-out, and the schoolboy team played well, in the care of Mr. F. Sims. The seniprs toured to Taumarunui, where their .play, merited approbation. The administration of the club had been reorganised and the club would be again strong for the season at hand. Officers were elected as follow:—Patron, Mr. A. G. Osborne, M.P.; vice-patron, Mr. J.
