TESTING OF CARS.

In accordance with the new motor regulations, all owners of motor vehicles must obtain a warrant of fitness by March 31. The work of testing is in full swing at those garages in Auckland approved as testing authorities. The most common defects noted by the garages concern steering — often "wobble" caused by worn king pins —atnd brakes. In the majority of cases the headlights have to be adjusted, but this is because of a change in the regulations respecting these. Complaints have been made by a number of motorists that the work of testing is not being carried out uniformly, and also that in some cases the garages have advised certain repairs which, in the owners' opinions, were unnecessary.
