The weather was fine and the going wa« good at C'-aulfield this morning, the gallops being accomplished on the steeplechase gra**>. Cuddle beat Radiogram over a mile in 1.44%. She pulled up well. Upoko Ariki and Country Party ran nix furlongs in 1.16%. Demotic beat North-wind and Viceroy over ten furlongs in 2.14%. Gold Rod did an excellent mile, taking 1.43%. He beat Treasure Trove by.three lengtlis, the last five furlongs taking 1.4%. Birthday Boy beat Ena over five furlongs in J. 2. Pamehis, who was not extended, impressed while running five furlong in 1.3. Beech wood did the faeteet four furlongs, taking 48*48, Master Motley recording 495. Boongarry and Pewter covered a mile in 1.44. Great Legend ran four furlongs in 49%« and Ajax five in i.1%.
SOME FAST SPRINTS.
GAY BLONDE BEST MILE. (H«*iv«l -2 p.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. At Flemingtoii the gallops were on the course proper, :«)ft from the rail*. Diealto ran a brilliant four furlongs, taking 49%e. Young Crusader recorded the beet six furlongs, taking 1.17% Gay Blonde, without shoe*, did the fastest mile, registering 1.42. Liberty and Caesar covered lour furlongs in ol%s. On the tan Dick Devon beat Wvkehani over a mile in 1.46. Hua ran three furlongs in 37V«s and St. Valorey and JJescrt Dream a mile in 1.48.
