PAID HOLIDAYS.
BRITISH INQUIRY PLANNED. British Official Wireless. RUGBY, February 24. Holidays with pay will be the subject of an inquiry by a committee to be appointed by the Government. This decision, according to the "Manchester Guardian," was taken as a result of recent negotiations between Ministers and trade union leaders.
The Minister of Labour, Mr. Ernest Brown, stated in the House of Commons recently that although the information related only to industries covered by collective agreements, it was believed that about 1,500,000 workers at present were receiving holidays with pay. It is recalled that the House of Commons twice has given a second reading to private members' bills to provide for an annual holiday of eight consecutive days with pay.
