TROTTING.
INTERVALS EXTENDED. DRIVING AND RIDING FEES. ALTERATIONS TO RULES. (By Telegraph—l'rese Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A special meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Conference was held to-day, when, on the motion of the executive committee, two important alterations in the rules were made. The first related to intervals between races, the executive desiring that the rule stipulating 35-minute intervale be rescinded.
Tlie incident, Mr. H. F. Nicoll, eaid to adhere to t!ie l>resent interval Was inflicting hardship oil many cluljs who found it impossible, with the present out-of-date or inadequate equipment, to run meetings with only 35 minutes between races.
The rule was rescinded and the following •substituted:—ln no programme of any race meeting, any day of which falls within the period from May 7 In one year to August 31 in the next succeeding year, shall the starting time of the last race on any such day lie fixed for a time later than 20 minutes before sunset.
The executive's motion dealing with horsemen's riding and driving fees was aleo carried. Kule 245 was deleted and the following substituted: In the absence of any special agreement to the contrary fees payable to horsemen in relation to the net amount payable to the owner of the winner shall be as follows: To a winning horseman, in no case lees than £2. If tlu? net amount of the winning stakes do<w not exceed £200, £5 per centum thereon, and £2 10/ per centum on any amount in excet*. To losing horsemen iii no case less than £1; if the net amount exceeda £30, but not £150, £2; if the net amount exceeds £150, £3.
The rule now 'brings fees up to the 1981 standard, as required under the new regulations.
