Japanese 111-Treatment of British Sailors. OUTCOME OF INQUIRY. - (Received 11 a.m.) TOKYO, February 22. Replying to interpellations accusing Japanese police of torturing prisoners to extract confessions in which maltreatment of British naval ratings at Keelung last November was emphasised, Mr. Horinouchi, assistant Foreign Minister, announced that after full inquiry the Government found no evidence of Britons being ill-treated. He added that the Government attempting to reach an amicable settlement with Britain.
