Last year a smaller scheme was operated by a sub-committee of the Auckland City Council with the aid of a Government subsidy. The committee then comprised the Hon. B. Martin, M.L.C., Sir George Richardson and Mr. E. F. Andrews, of the City Council, with two members of the Auckland Milk Council, Messrs. G. W. Hutchison and A. C. Trouadale, co-opted. This personnel forms the basis for the new scheme, while other members are Mr. C. R. Munro, representing the Auckland Education Board. Mr. T. W. Arthur, the League of Health for New Zealand Youth, and Mr. W. H. Fortune, the Auckland School Committee*' Association. A representative of the Auckland Suburban Local Bodies' Association has aloo been asked to join.

Negotiations have been proceeding for some time between the committee, vendors and producers regarding the price of milk, and several difficulties encountered are hoped soon to have been overcome. The prices and margins to be paid and received by the various parties will later be considered by the Milk Council, which will also be" responsible for ensuring that an adequate supply of milk ie available.
