ARMING FOR PEACE.

PATH OF CO-OPERATION

(To the Editor.) Those who advocate arming for peace should consider the following point*: (1) Arum have never brought peace in the world'* history. for there have always been war* in spiti,of the presence of arms. The greatest war was when the world was most heavily armed (1914). (2) If arms bring peace, then whv is Britain supplying 40,000.000 yas mask* anil other defensive precautions? 'litis act is an admission that arms do not bring peace and security. (3) If arnw bring peace, all rations must continue for ever to pile up arms, the more the safer for each, until everyone in every nation devotes all his time to making arms, as the logical conclusion. Then what ? The truth is that the people of the world are being duped by the international arms ring, including Vickers, Krupps, Schneider. Skoda, Mitsui and Bethlehem Steel, which has oft been exposed. Big business for them and allied trades, and, for international finance, profits at our expense. No unbiased person can study the subject without concluding that permanent peace can be achieved only by friendly co-operation between the nations. The path of friendly cooperation is the eane, cheap, logical way, the happy way, the proved way, the way of Jesus, who said, "Love your enemies, do good to them that despitefully use you." It is the only way that will bring better conditions to the people. Earl Grev has said, "Great armament* lead inevitably to war." We ask. when has there been a sincere conference called to settle all international problems which "cause" war and unrest and suspicion and tension? There never has been one, and never will until the people of the world demand one! WORLD PEACE LEAGUE.
