GARDEN PARTY.

AUCKLAND ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY. A garden party under the auspices of the Auckland Zoological Society was held on Saturday afternoon at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Henley, Hauraki Street, Birkenhead. The president, Dr. W. A. Fairclough, was accompanied by Messrs. A. Grant, G. Rowland Hutchinson, and Hooper, representing the board of management, Dr. F. R. Smale, Dr. C. E. A. Coldicutt, Mr. J. C. Entrican, and several prominent members.

The party inspected the gardens, greenhouses, aquaria, and the aviaries, and found all these of absorbing interest.

Mrs. A. E. Henley, who received the guests in a gown of wine silk, relieved with diamante, was assisted in her duties as hostess by Misses Kay Henley and May Bell, Messrs. J. Henley and T. Ellison.

Among those present were Mesdames F. R. Smale, C. E. A. Coldicutt, G. R. Hutchinson, Bankart, Hooper, J. C. Entrican, Richardson, O'Ryan, Potter; Misses Dover, N. Thrift, Sarah Stacpoole.
