CYCLIST KILLED.

COLLISION WITH CAR.

PILLION RIDER INJURED.

Fatal injuries were suffered by a I young motor cyclist, Mr. Lloyd Sten-1 beck, aged 20, grocer's assistant, of 41, | Johnstone Street, Point Chevalier, on Saturday afternoon, when his machine came into collision with the back of a motor truck about 1 o'clock at the corner of Khyber Pass Road and Burleigh Street. A pillion rider, Mr. Clifford Charles Matthews, aged 19, grocer's assistant, of 20, Herbert Road, Mount Eden, suffered concussion, and was admitted to the Auckland Hospital in a fairly serious condition. His condition this morning had improved and was described as not serious. The cycle was travelling up Khyber Pass Road, towards Symonds Street, while the motor truck, which wa*s driven by Mr. A. R. Sigley, of 2, Hope Street, ffrey Lynn, was turning from, Khyber Pass Road into Burleigh Street. Both men were thrown heavily when the cycle struck the truck with a severe impact. They were attended by Dr. J. W. Mask ell and taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. Stenbeck. who suffered internal injuries, in addition to concussion and head injuries, died at 6.30 o'clock. There was no damage done to the truck, while the motor cycle was only slightly damaged, the lamp being broken and the front of the frame being thrown out of alignment.
