Perfect weather conditions prevailed during training operation* at Hawera thin morning, and several smart efforts were recorded. All fast work took place on th* plough track.

0. Cox's pair, Friesland (Cole) and Lowenberg (Monkley) had their ftrrt fast work since racing at Kginont, and after going steadily over a round galloped four furlongs comfortably in 51», after covering the first quarter in 255. Fri«. land finished on the bit a length in front of his companion.

Autumn Leaf (Monkley) Corowa (Cole) and Naughty Marietta (PepperilH were associated in a gallop over seven furlong. Jumping away together, Naughty Marietta! on the inside, made the pace down the back, with Autumn Leaf handy, and Corowa a length and a half away. They ran the first three furlongg in 30 2-fc, and the half-mile in 525. In a food set-to Naughty Marietta finished a anade in front of Autumn Leaf, with Corowa half a length back, in 1.32. It wa* a capital workout, with Naughty Marietta showing her b«st track effort to date. Corowa, who finished strongly, is to atart in the Opunake Cup. and will be riddas by G. Cole.

Onewhetu was worked over a couple of circuit*, and Dancing Lady sprinted Uuee tuilongs in 375.

Muster Limond has been sent home for a spell. He went sore, and will not be brought in again until next winter. R. Fryer leaves on Wednesday for Te Aroha to take charge of J. Pryer'a team, who are remaining for the Te Aroha maeting. Ho is taking up Supreme Court and King Koroki to link up with Tout le Monde, International, Pantoon and Black Friar.

Wotan and Le Grand are booked leave Hawera on Monday for Auckland, en route to Australia. Both horses are in great condition, and will require little galloping on arrival to fit them to rate. Wotan, as a result of the racing he had at New Plymouth and Hawera, is in great fettle. The pair are booked to leave for Sydney by the Awatea on Wednesday.
