SCALDED IN POOL.
MAORI'S GRAVE INJURIES. FOUND CRAWLING IN GRASS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondemt.) ROTORVA, this day. Apparently scalded as a result of entering a thermal pool which proved hotter than he expected, an eldefly Maori, Mutu Katene, wns discovered in the early hours of Sunday morning endeavouring to crawl through the grass in the vicinity of the pool to obtain help. Katene was suffering agonising pain, and was practically unconscious when found. It is not known how lonpr he was in the pool, or what time the accident occurred. He was admitted to hospital, where his condition is reported to be grave. His clothes were found in a shed used by Maoris as a dressing room. The pools in the vicinity of the gcene of the accident are regularly used by the Maoris as bathing places, but the one used by Katene is known to be considerably hotter than the others.
