A lawn tennis match between Taranaki and Waikato teams was commenced on the Cambridge Club's courts on Saturday, but it was interrupted by rain. Results (Waikato first) :— Mixed Doubles.—J. MATCHES IN THE PROVINCE. Huntly beat Glen Afton seniors at Huntly by 14 rubbers to 2. Rihui (Huntly) beat Glen Afton on Saturday at Glen Afton by 0 rubbers (103 games) to 7 (SI >. In a Watt Clip match at Tc Puke, Tc Puke Central beat Pongukawa by 12 rubbers to 1. Rain showers marred the tennis match. Matamata v. Te Awatnutu, at the Victoria Park hard courts (Te Awatnutu) on Saturday afternoon, nnd after four games had been completed the contest was abandoned. In the men's singles G. Wood (Te Aw<t--111111111 defeated McKenna. 9—o, and R. L. Armstrong defeated Keeley. 9—2. In the ladies' singles Miss E. Maxwell (Te Awamutu) lost to Miss Lamare. 5—7. and Miss L. North defeated Miss E. Landels, 7—-0. FRANKLIN ASSOCIATION. Play In the rounds in the Franklin Lawn Tennis Association's competitions terminated on Saturday. In A grade, group 1, Waiuku beat Pukekohe East, 7—.".. nnd is the winner in the group. Aka Aka. which beat Pukekohe A by seven rubbers to three, is the runner-up. In group 2. Pukekohe B heat West End- • Hill, 9—l, and is at the head of this group. St. _James' and Onewhero played a draw, In group 3. Pukekohe C bent Otaua, G—3. In B grade, group 1, Suburban beat Pukekohe on games. These two teams are now , level at the head of the group and will JpUjr off.
