Last year's title winners, A. G. Patrick ?£ • R ;., S - Trl * r . will have to defend their titles against particularly strong opposition. In fact the championships are very open this season. Ten riders will contest the unpaced 1000 metres, which Triner won last year in 1.17 3-5, while nine will appear in the sprint and eleven in the ten-miler. Patrick won botli of the latter events last vear. J. H. Wade, who has been in Wanganui for almost five years, is expected to provide the strongest opposition, while C. T. Dwight. present holder of the Dominion junior title, has proved himself a splendid sprinter.
