EPSOM TRIALS.
SOME USEFUL EFFORTS, itTCKY LOVE GOES FAST. GAY SISTER IMPRESSES. The dirt track provided excellent going at Epsom this morning and several useful efforts were recorded. Most of the horses ■with engagements at the Auckland meeting accomplished tasks, the most impressive being those of Lucky Love, Gay Sister, Sequoia and True Trust.
Fisher and Dick Redmond opened proceedings by running a mile and a half, the former finishing a shade in front in 3.4S 2-5, the last half mile in 1.12. Dick Redmond trotted usefully to register 3.40, and made no mistakes. He is shaping up well, "while Fisher.is fining down a good deal. Vanora, having his first work-out after Tesuming, was not unduly bustled to run a mile and a quarter in 3.9 2-5, the final four furlongs in 1.13 2-5. He has filled out as the result of the spell.
Bedford and John's Last were associated over a mile and a half, the former teing a shade in front at the finish in 3.40.
Great Fame, Dainty Lady and Gold .Pointer went away in that order from the mile and a half post. Great Fame was the pilot to the mile disc in 2.20, but was then eased, and Dainty Lady carried on the running to finish on terms with Gold Pointer. The last-named" was timed to run 3.35, and the last half in 1.10 2-5. Dainty Lady, who received a concession at the start from him took 3.37, but Great Fame was not knocked about. Gold Pointer went better than usual.
Hillcrest, who suffered a fall on the roads on Tuesday, sprinted half a mile in 1.11. He showed no signs of the ailment on the journey.
Worthy Quest showed plenty of speed while running the last half of her work in 1.8 3-5. and was finishing on well. Lucky Love showed his customary pace •while getting to the end of a mile and a half in 3.27 2-5, after running the first mile in 2.23. This horse lias never looked ■better."
Amathas began Is in front of Handicappcr over a mile, but broke badly on the final bend, and Handieapper finished well clear in 2.19 3-5, the last half mile in 1.0. He was finishing on strongly over the last furlong. Pink Lady led Qucridn throughout a mile and a half in 3.41, the last half mile in 1.13 1-5. Qnerida, who began.from the Iwck, went 3.39 2-5.
Forest Jen-el pleased in beating Kowpie's Crest over a mile and a half in 3.33 4-5, the final four furlongs, in 1.7. It was a good effort for the three-year-old, and she is working well. Kewpie's Crest wa.-i pushed for room near the finish, and recorded 3.33.
Del Rio "jumped away 2s in front of True Trust with Gay Sister a similar distance away in a bout over a mile and a half. Torpedo King joined in at the mile and a quarter, but broke after going six furlongs. Gay Sister came home particularly well to register 3.2.) 4-5, the last half mile in I.G. It was a good effort as she has not done much fast work. True Trust pleased in going 3.25. but Del Rio was not knocked about and ran her mile in 2.23. Mountain Sun and Auto Machine were associated over two miles, the former i can ins oil the wav U, resistor 4 nO T the last half mile 18 3-5 '
