AFTER 58 YEARS.
I FOREMAN PRINTER RETIRES. ! Tlicre was a large gathering of the staff of New Zealand . Newspapers, Limited, to farewell Mr. W. Dniinmoiid. one of the oldest employees of the company, now retired. Mr. Druinmond was foreman printer of the company's monthly puhlications for many years, and was a memher of the stafT 'since 1870. His long association of 53 years, has heen unhroken except for a visit to America, made to increase his knowledge of his trade. In handing to Mr: Driimmond a goodwill gift from his fellow workers, Mr. ■J\ A. Clarke, managing editor, referred to his long service, his high ability as a craftsman, and the high regard in which he was held. It was the hope of all the staff that he would enjoy good health and happiness during his retirement. Mr. Clarke's remarks were supported l.y Mr. B. B. Webber, editor of the "New Zealand Farmer." Tn a- modest speech, acknowledging the gift, Mr. Drummond disclaimed any special virtues or ability. He said he lhad "given his best, all the time."
