A QUIETER TONE.

After a spell of keen buying the Auckland Stock Exchange slowed down again this morning, and turnover at tiie morning call was only moderate, with fresh bidding somewhat restricted. In the bank and insurance sections values were steady, but 110 business was recorded. There was a good demand in the brewery section, with buyers for L. Innes, Dominions, New Zea lands and Tooth's at late rates, but there was no inquiry for Staples, which were 011 offer at £2 1/. Amongst Australian Issues quotations covered a wide range, but here, again, sales were scarce. Morts Dock sold fractionally better at 13/4 Vi, and United Provisions, which are not quoted regularly, changed hands at 10/, Broken Hills were easy, with sellers at £2 1/6 and no buyers. Amalgamated Wireless had a market between £1 19/ and £'2 1/6. Electrolytic Zincs and Mount Lyells were both firm at late rates. There was virtually no change in Government stocks. Steady at Noon. The market showed little change at noon, though an increased turnover was recorded. Commercial Banks sold ex dividend at 19/5. Firmness was shown in Kauri Timbers and also in Tooth's Breweries, the former having sales at £1 3/3 and £1 3/4. whilst Tooth's Breweries gained 6d, -with a sale at £2 17/3. Recent easing in Broken Hills was confirmed with a sale 3d lower, at £4 1/, but the contributing issue were 4d better, at £3 8/. G. J. Coles failed to maintain the recent peak price, and were transferred at £5, with more wanted at that price and sellers 4d above.
