MATAMATA DISTRICT. RETURNS FOR DECEMBER BUTTERFAT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) MATAMATA, Wednesday. High butterfat production was maintained by the Mangawhevo-Matamata group's 1328 cows under test in December, according to the Kcw Zealand Co-op. Herd-testing Association's latest returns. Each cow uveiiiged So7lb of milk, a test of 4.57 and 071b ot butterfat. Production was uniformly good in the group, and the leading herd averaged 431b of fat for 41 tows, while the top cow gave 901b of fat. Waharoa group's 2198 cows averaged 7551b of milk, 4.57 test and 351b of fat. The best cow gave 941b of fat and the best herd averaged 421b of fat for 6<i cows.

A high test of 4.86 was a factor in the Manawaru group's 1829 cows securing an average of 401b of butterfat for December. Three herds averaged 461b of fat, and the top cow gave 861b of fat.

One cow in the Hinuera group was credited with 1131b of butterfat for December, or 3Mslb of fat a day. Hinuera's 1540 cows averaged 7761b of milk, 4.58 test and 361b of butterfat for the month. The leading herd was one of 48 cows averaging 441b of fat.

Te Poi group's best cow gave 921b of fat in December, and the 1424 cows under test averaged 7831b of fat, 4.53 test and 351b of butterfat. A herd of 59 cows averaged 431b of fat.

A feature of the Tirau group was that a large herd of 102 cows had the best average of any herd in the group with 461b of butterfat. The group's 1877 cows averaged 7771b of milk, 4,67 test and 361b of butterfat, and 1 the best cow gave 871b of fat.

In Okoroire group 1881 cows averaged 7851b of milk, 4.57 test and 361b of butterfat. The best herd was a large one of 107 cows averaging 431b of fat, and the leading cow gave 761b of fat.

PUTARURU BUTTERFAT. PRODUCTION IN DECEMBER. PUTARURU, Wednesday. The large Putaruru group, which comprises 2667 cows, had the good averages of 7751b of milk, 4.42 test and 341b of butterfat per cow. One Putaruru cow had the high production of 951b of fat, the best herd averaged 431b of fat for 62 cows, which compares well with the best herd averages in other parts of the Waikato. Tokoroa herds also produced well in December, the Tokoroa group's 1006 cows averaging 8221b of milk, 4.13 test and 341b of butterfat. A herd of 55 cows had the excellent average of 421b of butterfat, and the top cow gave 731b of fat.
