BOXING.
WHAT WILL BRADDOCK DO? MEET SCHMEUNG OR LOUIS. CONFUSION OVER MATCHES. NEW YORK, February 3. There is great speculation by sporting editors as to whether the heavy-weight boxing champion, Braddock, will meet Schmeling or Louie. Also if the affair is legitimate or just a publicity stunt. The consensus of opinion is that the Louis match will be abandoned if the Madison Square Garden authorities sue Braddock to enforce his contract, and that it will take place if the Garden authorities compromise. Officiate in Illinois and the Athletic Commission there are in favour of the Louis match. It is contended that. Chicago is the heart of the sports world, and therefore deserves the bout and is certain to get it. The Garden officials threaten to bring an action. Braddock has signed for sparring matches with Eddie Kotwisca and Eddie Cook on February 15, when he will make his first appearance in the ring since he became champion.
