SCRATCH MEN EXCEL. SAYERS RUNS QUARTER IN 50 2-SS. When the Auckland Amatenr Athletic and Cycle Club conducted a programme of 14 events at the Domain last evening, a feature was the showing made in most of the events by the scratch competitors, A. J. Sayers. 440 yds handicap, H. D. Ball. 440 yds hurdles. A. E. Sutton, hammer throw, J. B. Prendergast, long Jump, and Miss D. Lumley, 100 yds ladies' handicap, each proved successful. A. J. Sayers took the lead in the 440 yds after 300 yds had been covered, and. although the wind was against him in the straight, he registered the fine time of 50 2-ss. Results:— 100 Yards.—First heat: E.
