The liest backed in the Ralph Handicap were Royal Appellant, Tybalt and Kelly, and they all gained a" share of (ho prize money. Tybalt, Koyal Appellant and Gay Talkie began beet, and wlien the field was fairly on its way there • was little between Gay Talkie and Tybalt, with Gay Broney, Kelly and Knight of Australia handy. ' Gay Bronev led acroßfl the top, just clear of Knight of Australia, with a gap of two lengths to Tybalt, Gay Talkie and Kelly, who were ■ practically on terms in front of Royal Appellant and Con Fuoco. The field commenced to bunch as they raced to the turn, and in a fine finish Tybalt, on the rails, finished strongly to win nicely by three-quarters of a length from Kelly, while the judge wae unable to , separate Royal Appellant and Knight of Australia for the minor position. Then came Con Fuoco, Gay Talkie and Gay Broney. A Small Field. Only four paraded for the ■ Hobsoh Handicap and backers worked the form, out well by electing Nuclei first fancy and Bachelor King next. Feldberg was a couple of lengths away. The Plate. Mainland and Vera Acre carried the bulk of the money in thte Hauraki Plate, and the public were right on the mark. •». Professional was first to break the* line from Sergia and Mainland, with • Vera Acre a couple of lengths further back, and Ringshot next. Professional "was a length clear of Sergia turning for home, with Mainland handy, and. Ringshot and Vera Acre next. At the distance Mainland put in her claim, and Vera Acre came fast on the-rafts, victory going to the former by a head, with Professional n length and a half away. Then followed Sergia and Ringshot.
