PRAISE FOR NEWSPAPERS.

WELLINGTON, Friday. 1 "I might lie inclined to be a little biased, but after seeing the newspapers in Australia I would like to compliment the Press in New Zealand," said Mr. IT. M. Christie, Labour MP. for Waipawa, who returned from Sydney to-day by the Awatea. Mr. Christie's main impression was that most newspapers in Australia were striving after sensational news. Their standard, he considered, was much below that in Dominion.
