If rubber hot-water bottles are allowed to become bard and brittle tbey are liable to crack. To keep them supple a few drops of ammonia should be added occasionally to the hot water with which I they are filled. They should also be I washed from time to time in hot soapy water with a dash of ammonia in it. It is worth while to fit them with flanntl covers, which protect them from scratches and also help to keep them ihot. When the bottle# are not in they should be liunjr up empty in a cool place.
