PARAPET RESCUE.

ON GRAFTON BRIDGE. CRIPPLED PENSIONER'S ACT. SAVED BY PEDESTRIAN. This morning. .Alfred Arthur Krirkseu. a pensioner, aged ">l. a man with one leg. appeared in the Police Court before Mr. C. I!. (>rr Walker. S.M.. when he pleaded guilty to a charge of attempting to commit filicide. Sub-Inspector Fox said that at 7.10 last evening a Mr. (iresliam was walking across <-rafton Bridge towards Kara ngiiliH pe Road when lie noticed Krick-en walking towards him on the southern side of the bridge. Before the arrival of the constable Kricksen resisted the pedestrian. Mr. Fox added that Kricksen stated that he had not touched liquor for 15 months until yesterday, when he had fome drink. He said that when in Karangahape Road last evening he thought he would like to commit suicide. Kricksen lived alone in a bach in Mount Kflen, and said that he supported his widowed mother. Asked try the magistrate if he was a member of the Returned Soldiers' Association, Kricksen replied in the negative. "In his frame of mind the offence might be repeated, so I think he had better be remanded," said the magistrate in remanding Kricksen until February 5. Sub-Inspector Fox said that in the meantime the police would get in touch with Ericksen's friends and the Returned Soldiers' Association.
