TOBACCO RESEARCH.
REQUEST FOR STATION. (By Telegraph.—'Press Association.) NELSON, Friday. A deputation from the Nelson Tobacco Company waited upon the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. , va ,n. to-day, and requested the caily establishment of a tobacco research station in Nelson. The Minister said the growers could rest assured that the Government would not allow the industry to bp imperilled in any way, either bv outside companies, gaining control of the industry or by the importation of foreign leaf. Mr. Sullivan said he wholeheartedlysupported research, but how it would be organised he could not aay at the moment. The Tobacco Control Board •was preparing a plan for the development of the industry, and this would shortly be presented to the Cabinet.
