GAVE HIMSELF UP.
MAN'S THEFT OF BEER.

WELLINGTON, Wednesday
Stated b}' the police to have given himself up entirely voluntarily, there being no evidence against him, Leslie Knopp, aged 27, storeman, was charged in the Wellington Police Court to-day with breaking and entering the premises of the Tiii Bottling Company, where he was employed, and stealing six bottles of beer valued at 5/. The story told to the police by accused was that, given the keys when he was working overtime, he had a duplicate set made and used these about half a dozen times to get small quantities of liquor.
Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
Donald Thomas Ball, aged 20, mechanic, Ronald Maurice Chalmers, aged 25, mechanic, and James Harrington, aged 25, factory hand, were charged with breaking and entering the same premises and stealing liquor valued at 20/. They were remanded.
