AT HIGH PRESSURE.
SUBURBAN POST OFFICES.
EXTENSIONS CARRIED OUT.
Work involving the provision of mail and sorting rooms and in some --cases extra general office and staff accommodation, made necessary by the increased volume of suburban poet office business, is at present being carried out in several suburban post offices. The volume of mail handled by these offices has grown steadily in recent years, and in order to provide adequate accommodation additions and renovations have been put in hand.
Work on the Mount Eden and Remuera offices is almost completed, while plans and specifications have been drawn up by the Public Works Department, and tenders will be called for work on the Parnell, Epsom, Kingsland and Newmarket branches.
Extensive alterations to the Newmarket office will shortly be carried out. The building will be completely renovated and the front improved toy alterations, while additions will result in the accommodation being doubled.
