GENERAL PLAN NEEDED.

{To the EditorA Ac one who. along with other women in this city, is very interested in the establishment of a scheme tor training girls in all branches of housewifery and domestic management, I would like to draw the Government"* attention to "Young Xew ZealandcrV letter published in your paper on January 2T>. "Young Xew Zealander" is to be commended, and as one whose work is closely associated with this branch of worker, I know that there are girls who would prefer to take up the work if only there was a course of training available. The women of this country, as in Denmark, could be proud of the girls running their homes, doing their cooking, etc., and surely, along with the present-day teaching of dietetic*, we must admit the importance of skilled workers in our horn ?s and institutions. Little or nothing has been done to encourage girls desirous of doing this work, hence the present acute shortage of suitable girls. When a scheme is established, and it must come, wages and hours regulated (and with trained workers that will he possible), the supply of girls, I know, will be forthcoming, and they will take up with pride the work that is womanlv and trulv their own. DESTITUTION.
