You may he suqiriricd to find that the oriprin of the word is found in another word with which it is very doubtful you would associate it. The other word is the (Jreek '"klima," indicating a rlope or gradient. It is only when we take into consideration the sun that we are able to realise how it came to he as.-oeiated with weather conditions. These conditions depend prTMitly upon the sun. and in the manner in which its rays fall upon the earth, for the climate is <rreatlv affected by their an<rlc. If you think this out you will pet eome idea of how the word originated from one meaning a elope.
