TO COMMAND LEANDER.
cauiuat won xx. station. Captain J. W. Rivett-Carnac, R.N., D.S.C., has been appointed to command the cruiser H.M.S Leander, which will join the New -Zealand Division, R yal Navy, about August next, replacing H.M.S. Dunedin, which sails Home in February. The Leander is at present serving with the 2nd Cruiser Squadron of the Home Fleet. Captain Rivett-Carnac has had a distinguished career. He was rangefinding expert with the Grand Fleet during the war and was awarded the D.S.C. for service as gunnery and executive officer of the cruiser Cleopatra during her service in the Baltic iii 1019. He is the, only officer on the active list of the Navy who has completed courses at all three staff colleges, Greenwich (1021), Camberley (1922) and Andover (1025). On October 1, 1936, he relinquished command of the antiaircraft crUiser Coventry, with which he had been for a year during the 3lediterranean emergency.
