Amazing Increases In Costs Of Powers. GERMANY'S UNDISCLOSED. % (Received 1.30 p.m.) BERLIN, January 5. A report from the Institute of Business Research shows that the defence expenditure of the world in 1913 was £833,000,000, £1,250,000,000 in 1928-29, and £2,500,000,000 to £2,900,000,000 in 1936. Russia's bill has increased sixteen - fold in the past eight years, Japan's 100 per cent, France's 56, Britain's 39, and the United States' 38. No figures are given for Germany.
