NO NEW STAMPS.

P.O. AND CORONATION. WHAT ABDICATION MEANT. (Special.—By Air Mail.) LONDON, December 19. The issue of postage stamps of the reign of King George VI. is not likely to be ready for May 12, the date of the coronation. No King Edward VIII. stamps of new denominations will be issued. So many complicated processes have to be gone through before the approval of the design of a new issue that stamps of one reign are always current for several months during the reign following King George V, stamps did not appear until 13 months after his accession. Before the King Edward stamps were issued experts were engaged for many weeks in pre flaring drawings, which were weeded out by a committee appointed by the Postmaster-General before a specimen set could be sent to King Edward for his approval. An officiar of the Post Office said this week: "There will be no new issue for some time. In the meantime no King Edward stamps for other denominations will be issued. King George the Fifth stamps will continue to be used for these denominations. A proposal for a special King Edward Coronation issue h«.d been discussed, but was not very far advanced."
